serving #FICUSFRIDAY realness, hunny, with her beautiful velvety and ovate leaves, let’s welcome Ms. Ficus Audrey, aka Ms.Ficus benghalensis, to tha botanical stage 🌱💃🏽🌿🪴
a green gurl that I was absolutely obsessed with early on in my plant parent journey, you’ll often find her in random restaurants or clothing stores going for a modern, minimalistic aesthetic. Some interesting thangs about this kween are that she’s native to India, where she 1) thrives in massive proportions; 2) is among the largest trees in the world by canopy coverage, reaching 65 to 98 feet tall in her natural habitat; and 3) is the national tree of India 🇮🇳
CARE TIPS 💚
This green gurl thrives in bright, ambient light; long periods of direct sunlight or low light are a no-no, hunny! The soil should be consistently and evenly moist, with small droughts in between waterings to allow the soil to dry out a bit. I have found that these kweens do better in plastic pots when in my care, as plastic pots retain moisture for longer periods of time and this ensures that the soil does not get too dry for too long. She’s a tricky one because she’s very sensitive to over-watering, but, dahling, her botanical beauty makes her worth the challenge! Yellowing leaves at the bottom of her stem are a natural thang for her, as it’s a part of her life cycle for older leaves at her base to yellow and drop. Brown edges on her foliage could mean a bunch of thangs, but are often a result of dry air, so crank up that humidity, dahling, if needed. And a sudden loss of younger leaves could be a sign of over-watering, so be sure to check the soil before watering this kween
cheers to tha freakin’ weekend, gurl hope you spend it frolicking in lushness 🥂❤️
