The Boogeyman Nebula (LDN 1622) is a dark molecular cloud of less than 10 light-years across. It lies only 500 light-years away in the constellation of Orion. The Boogeyman Nebula lies just outside of Barnard's Loop that encircles the more famous nebulae in Orion like the Great Orion Nebula (M42) and the Horsehead and Flame nebule. A small illuminated part of LDN 1622 is the reflection nebula vdB 62. This part looks like a lantern that the Boogeyman is holding up with his left hand.
This is one of those Astrophotography targets that really looks like its name and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
