☔️ Baby, it’s been kinda cold and very wet outside. Good thing I spent the past couple of months working on my winter coat. 🐻 😉 #photodump  📸 1 & 2: Posole verde with squash blossoms, braised chicken and caramelized shallot was a soulful weekend special at @hearth_mp in Moorpark, where they also offered Japanese sweet potatoes with crema, goat cheese, hot honey, a crown of green onions — and a front-row seat for the culinary ballet led by co-owner/chef @seb.ferndz with an assist from @ian__lowry . 🎃 📸 3 & 4: In midtown Ventura, the brunch menu by @cheffelipecuevas at Mothers Tacos (new IG handle: @madebymothers ) kicked off with margaritas garnished with dainty begonias and not-so-dainty tortas of queso-crusted bolillos stuffed with a mole-rubbed ribeye, refried beans and a fried egg. 🎃 📸 5: A smash hit at @joplinsojai , the Smash Burger by chef/co-owner @sawsaw_13 starts with a beef-and-pork patty sourced from @motleycrewranch in the Santa Rita Hills near Lompoc (eat local!) and ends with cheese, caramelized onions and Joplin’s sauce on a potato bun. 🎃 📸 6: @flare_lompoc serves hot pots, chicken katsu, soju cocktails and pork belly ramen (pictured) at what was a drive-in hamburger stand back in the day. 🎃 📸 7: Chock-full of charbroiled chicken, the Flying Burrito at Jerry’s @pollofino_ in Goleta isn’t the prettiest thing I’ve ever eaten. But dam*, was it tasty. 🦃   📸 8: Mark your (post-holidays) calendars: Wednesday is fried-chicken-sandwich night at @buddys_wine_ventura in Midtown. 🦃 📸 9: When I go to @peasantsfeast in Solvang, I order whatever seasonal dessert @taytototts is making. On this visit I was rewarded with a slice of chocolate Chess Pie. 🦃 📸 10: I *might* have over ordered just a tad at the new @dumplingshack_moorpark. 🦃 📸 11: Chanterelles R Us at @eye_on_i_84 in Lompoc, where owner/chef @heather_hovey celebrates the locally harvested fungus with seasonal pizzas and a permanent mural. 🦃 📸 12: No visit to @na_na_thai in Buellton is complete without a Thai iced tea made with spiced black tea, coconut cream and Thai-iced-tea ice cubes that keep things chill without watering them down. 🦃 #805foodie #805 #instagood
