I want to live in a society where a government viewing someone who has committed an atrocity through a human lens is a positive step forward. ⁣ ⁣ And we’re so far away from that, because when black people commit equivalent crimes (or are even SUSPECTED of way LESS severe crimes) the treatment and public perception is so starkly different that it becomes infuriating to see the white kid treated with such compassion.
