💔 Things feel so heavy. So much damage, loss, destruction and devastation in Southwest Florida. As a society we are numb. Numb to the lives that were lost in Hurricane Ian. Numb to the suffering that community is experiencing. Ian killed hundreds, if not thousands of Floridians, but it kind of feels like people aren’t even phased. While most of us will see a single death as a tragedy, we can struggle to have the same response to large-scale loss of life. Too often, the deaths of many simply become a statistic. Y’all this could have been us. If this storm hit Charleston, it would have wiped downtown off the map. I only lived in Ft. Myers Beach for a few years but the people I met down there touched my life. They are fun, care-free, loving, and truly live their lives to the fullest. The community is colorful, creative, and they love a good cocktail (with a floater and splash of live music). To all of the people that donated to @captjamiehough, thank you! He’s doing an incredible job feeding folks in #fortmyers. To those that bought supplies, you literally fed, clothed, and comforted people that have lost everything. No home. No car. No clothes. No belongings. No hope. Thank you for being a beacon of light in a very dark time. Thank you @victoriavesce for delivering all the supplies. This is a photo of the Sanibel Lighthouse. One of the only things left standing on the island. It is God’s reminder that He will guide us with light in our darkest times. ❤️ Over the next week I’m going to share opportunities to help these folks in #fortmyersbeach. If anyone would like to help please let me know. ❤️
