#IamNotHere4You Years of covering up, playing by the rules, dressing down, no expression and still allegations of rape and sexual assault are coming to light in our scene. No more victim blaming “these things happen when drugs and alcohol are involved” “what female djs wear is not a good message and perpetuates this behaviour” “what did they expect to happen going back stage/to the after party” etc etc We are receiving so many testimonials from people still being abused in the scene but finally there is a shift happening. There IS less victim blaming, there IS way more support. We have systems in place now to help people come out against their abusers. Shining a light into the darkest areas of our scene is making a difference. And we will continue to do so until the narrative has changed and the stories of young women and men coming into the scene has changed from “having to pay their dues with sexual assault” to “being looked out for, supported and respected by their peers and clubbing communities” and more so by those in higher positions. So what does a scene look like where consent is the main currency? It’s a scene built on respect, where NO means exactly that and not an invitation to continue unwanted touch or pressure someone to have sex or perform unwanted sexual acts. NO means NO. So here in 2022 #IamNotHere4You I’m here #forthemusic Stand with me if #IamNotHere4You and sick of having to protest this shit And for the naysayers that will say I’m making this about myself. You’re probably right, when I hear the stories and know what others have been through, I get to repeatedly relive my own experiences which span over 25 years. A lot of which have been massively unpleasant. This is why I do this, to be able to give support and use my platform as I’d wished, when I was younger, someone was looking out for me. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 @metoo.music #IamNotHere4You
