Today is National Grandparents’ Day - So this post is dedicated to my Nonna (Marianna) but also my Nonno (Antonio). They met aged 18 and 24 in Favara, a small village in southern Sicily. A year later they got married and moved to England in 1958. Over the years, they’ve ran an ice cream factory, a fish & chip shop, and an Italian restaurant which they had for 20 years, all whilst bringing up 6 kids (one being my mum!). I am beyond lucky to still have them both in good health, and to be able to cook with my Nonna while my Nonno plays his piano in the background is just pure bliss. I started documenting Nonna’s cooking in March this year purely for the memories, with little intention of even sharing it on here, but after editing the first video I thought why not. Since then, Nonna’s videos have been seen by over 65 MILLION people, which is absolutely mind blowing. So thank you, thank you to every single person that has liked or shared the videos, sent a message, commented, or asked how she is. Starting this series has truly changed my life for the better and I’m eternally grateful. If you do like these videos and you’re still reading, I have some very exciting news that I’ll be able to announce very soon which may or may not involve Nonna in London.
