Our homes, and the people we share them with, shape our lives. For Vince, the Best Buddies inclusive living program allows him the opportunity to experience a supportive, integrated community with his peers. Having a place to call home gives Vince a sense of independence, respect, and happiness – things each of us seek daily. "Before joining the Best Buddies Living program, I lived with my parents in Falls Church, Virginia," says Vince. "In 2021, I was ready to branch out on my own in a new town with a new community of friends and the Best Buddies Living in Washington, D.C. was the perfect fit." Vince has been involved with Best Buddies for 10 years and actively participates in each of the organization's four mission pillars. In addition to being a resident at the Best Buddies Living location in Washington, D.C., he serves as a local Ambassador and is also paired through the Citizens program, which fosters friendships between adults with and without #IDD. Vince also works two jobs – one as a crew member at Trader Joe's and the other as an office assistant in the campus ministry division at Catholic University. "I strongly believe in the mission of this organization because I've been able to form some of the greatest friendships I've ever had through Best Buddies," says Vince. “I am so grateful to be part of Best Buddies Living; the community we're building gives you the chance to meet people who may be somewhat different from you, yet similar in so many ways."
