Let's say you're feeling OK but not tremendously happy. Your glass is at 100ml, and you pour water equally to four other glasses. The glasses you pour into are at 10ml to begin with – signifying lots of sadness. After you've poured water into them, they're at 35ml each – meaning you've poured out everything you had. They're now feeling just over a quarter of what you felt to start with, while you feel completely depleted. Now that you're empty, you search for other glasses to get water from, some of which aren't very full.⁣ ⁣ If you started with a higher amount, you'd not only be able to give more, but you could still have a lot left in your glass. You wouldn't have to run on an empty cup, and you certainly wouldn't feel immense despair or need to recuperate by taking more from other people.⁣ ⁣ Kindness and selflessness are essential aspects of a functioning society, blossoming relationships, and spiritual growth. However, we don't have to lose ourselves in the process of attempting to love others. It's essential to create a haven for yourself in which you can nurture your needs. In doing so, you'll be able to:⁣ ⁣ a) share your energy with others and love more organically;⁣ b) accommodate others, providing safety and understanding – without depleting yourself;⁣ c) avoid becoming a source of harm.⁣ ⁣ Take this analogy very lightly. For a moment, think about what brokenness looks and feels like in the physical world. For example, if it's broken glass, the edges will be sharp and could cut others. Although we're never truly broken as such, when hurt permeates our being, it becomes difficult not to share it with others.⁣ ⁣ Although fixing people is never our duty or even plausible, our energetic state certainly can impact others. There are probably people in your own life who feel like safety, emanate positivity and help you feel seen and understood. They can create a shift within us simply by being present.⁣ ⁣ #VexKing
