Last year @Patagonia reached out to me and asked if they could make a film sharing my story. I was confused at first, thinking they had the wrong person. Truth be told, I didn’t think my story was worthy of being told. I’d served as a Climate Advisor at the Obama White House and was engaged in work to rewrite the climate narrative. I’d also spent most of my life learning to live with a mental illness. And I had dreams of ice climbing in the Alaska Range. But the imposter syndrome was real. I didn’t feel worthy. Do we ever? But I had a thought. Every climate film I’d ever seen was based on the idea that we were doomed. That wasn’t true of my experience in the climate mitigation space as we worked to actually SOLVE the climate crisis and build the zero-carbon economy. There was a promised land we were all working toward, and that climate story wasn’t being told. “Can it be a climate film that leads with hope?,” I asked. They told me yes. Patagonia’s upcoming film, "The Scale of Hope," will tell the story of who I am and the work we’re doing to reframe the climate narrative. Screenings will be held in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Denver, Seattle, Reno, and the SF Bay Area. You can join one through the link in my bio! More than anything, thank you for being such incredible people who make up the climate movement — you continue to inspire me every day. #ScaleOfHope
