๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Do you know Annie Swynnerton? A maverick figure in the London exhibitions of the 1890s, her work embodied serious meaning and visual richness, celebrating a woman's mind and eye at work. Her vivid and engaging paintings thrilled admirers and irked detractors, with both groups recognising Swynnerton's strength and independence from artistic conventions. In 1922, Swynnerton became the first woman to be elected to the Royal Academy of Arts. She was also passionately involved with the fight for womenโ€™s political rights, joining the Manchester Society of Womenโ€™s Suffrage in 1880. She lived to see women gain the vote on the same terms as men in 1928.
