This was a couples trip—but you wouldn’t necessarily know it by the pictures. My Sissy and I both married men who are fine standing back and letting us shine. At first for me this was an adjustment. Why doesn’t my husband match my level of enthusiasm? Why does he sit down while I dance? But over time I’ve learned Shawn expresses his zest for life differently than I do. He’s happy being the cameraman and letting me take center stage. This doesn’t make him lesser than or a man in the shadows, but rather someone who unconditionally supports his wife.
