Despite how much I bang on about lifting weights, I get asked ‘how much cardio do you do?’ often. I think because I am quite lean, the assumption is that I live on a cross trainer - while that’s not true, I don’t want anyone blindly copying what I do. Here’s why:
It isn’t helpful for you to know what someone else does, because you gotta do what suits your own lifestyle and goals. You do you boo.
I film @grndhouseuk app workouts, I teach IRL classes, I lift weights 3 x a week and I walk on average 8k-12k steps a day. My aesthetic goals have been to increase muscle mass and now, in the run up to my wedding, lose a very small amount of body fat. So to be honest, cardio has not been my priority (now it’s 1-2 steady state sessions per week - my go to machine is the one and only Lil Miss Stepper).
If your goal is to lose body fat, you will likely need to do more cardio sessions than someone who is looking to build muscle. If you have a sedentary job and are training for general fitness and heart health, you may incorporate 2-3 cardio sessions a week into your gym sessions, to keep daily activity up.
Ask yourself what you want out of this. How much can you commit to it? Does it align with your goals?
