Entry 9 - In Cornell West’s MasterClass on philosophy he said, “Every human needs protection, association and recognition.” Hearing this connected a lot of dots for me, helping me understand how to voice my needs and how to be there for someone else. Using the word “needy” as a weapon is so damaging because you’re basically telling someone they aren’t worthy or don’t deserve something that should be seen as a basic human need (outside of food, water, shelter clothing, etc.) Of course (within context) we can provide a lot for ourselves, but it is okay to NEED people. Outsourcing for those needs is extremely human.
