Some home renovations have seen lawns and plantings swapped for pavement and artificial turf in a bid to save time and energy on maintenance. However, most gardeners consider this to be a mistake. Legendary gardener Clive Blazey recommends planting trees that work to cool your garden; trees and grasses expel water on hot days, cooling the area and providing a temperature buffer during heat waves.
