When it comes to sheep country, they say just getting there is half the adventure.
Whether it’s days of northern travel-gravel roads, commercial flights, float planes skipping off the water or bumpy helicopter landings on a rock-strewn flat-it’s all just the beginning.
Then comes the long days-grinding up from valley floor through thick brush, heat, and bugs. And somehow, it’s always worth it. Because it’s not really about the sheep.
Sure, they pull us in-draw us into places we might never otherwise go-but it’s the feeling we get when we’re there that keeps us coming back. Awe. Presence. Friendship. Appreciation.
Those things are worth the climb every time.
