Go Bucky, it’s your birthday. 🎈
Born #OnThisDay in 1895, the late R. Buckminster Fuller was a pioneer of architecture and design who worked to find innovative solutions for contemporary housing.
After working for many years designing geodesic domes, arguably his most well-known invention, Fuller designed the “Fly’s Eye Dome” — an amalgamation of all his ideas about sustainable housing. The structure is made out of lightweight fiberglass and resembles the lens of a fly’s eye. 🪰
See it for free on the Orchard Trail on your next visit to the museum, and tap the link in our bio to read more about Fuller + his inventions. ✨
