An earnest letter... One of the questions I’m asked the most frequently is how I got into writing. I think it’s especially a head-scratcher for those who know that my background is built on a long and successful career in ‘Corporate America’. Writing was never part of my life’s plan. My publisher recently asked that I write a letter that would go out to bookstores introducing myself and my book. I dreaded this request. I wanted to write the letters I’ve seen from other authors...ones where bookstores were a huge part of their history and a home where their lifelong dreams of becoming a writer lived. But that’s not my story. And, well, rather than be ashamed of that, I think it’s okay for me to be honest. And maybe this shapes the kinds of stories I will tell in my books. And if I can be a gateway to reading for someone who never really ventured down this path, I consider that the biggest honor of my life. So, here it is...a letter of how I got into writing.
