42 million Americans won’t receive their SNAP benefits on November 1. That’s 42 million people, including 16 million children, who might not know where their next meal is coming from. I’m sitting here tonight after putting my three kids to bed, and I cannot stop thinking about the millions of parents who are terrified right now. Parents who work full-time jobs. Veterans. Seniors. People with disabilities. Families just like mine and yours. And for anyone who thinks it’s okay to put someone else down, simply for needing a little extra help feeding their family, here’s what I need you to understand: You are closer to needing SNAP than you are to being a billionaire. Read that again. Any of us could be one emergency away from needing help. A cancer diagnosis. A layoff. A car accident. It can happen faster than you realize.
