I had the great honor of being chronicled by @artverite, a company that produces films, forums, and educational resources to protect the integrity of art history and empower allied art professionals. The film reveals an important but often overlooked part of the artistic process, which is the myriad of relationships for which you have to develop trusting partnerships; museum teams, attorneys, accountants, publicists, the list goes on and on.
Supportive patrons like Pamela Joyner, and the unique opportunity she provided by commissioning the work I produced as part of her groundbreaking tour of her collection, "Solidary & Solitary: The Joyner/Giuffrida Collection," are amongst those who I count as a valued partner.
For Smart's presentation of "Solidary & Solitary," I imagined the history and persistence of "RED-lining" in Chicago, we know that the term refers to the systematic denial of land, wealth creation and resources to black neighborhoods and communities, but what would it mean to make the lines visible on the the ground? What would it mean to “Roll Out The Red Carpet to White Flight”? What would it mean to remake the redlining map? My three installations did just that. See more images in my highlights and link in bio.
