Needed to post this one before FW is over and before Shabes. Following the two previous ones, here bell hooks speaks about our relationship with Money while evolving in creative spaces. How do we not compromise ourself yet can use money as a facilitator. I’ve sent this clip to a few people I love to remind them that some of that money they’re getting comes with a certain disrespect that may destroy their integrity. It manages to make them believe that it will help them fund other projects that truly matters to them but they actually don’t. This money actually devaluates them entirely. Money is not your worth, you are not buyable, you are not affordable. We should all be ready to walk away for money. Especially if that money might kill any form of ressources that could truly help you on the long term. Do not fall for the trap and the illusion that you should chase any kind of money and any opportunity, not all opportunity is a good one. It is a privilege to be able to say that, but trust, no money is worth you and your integrity. They need you more than you need them, in those spaces. We are use to not having a choice, until we do. The hardest is to realize WHEN we finally do. Anyway good luck to whoever’s reading this struggling with those questions, love you.
