Today the Home Affairs Committee has published a damning report which highlights the UK Government’s failures towards those seeking asylum in the UK. Among many conclusions, the report states that there is ‘no clear evidence’ to suggest that the plan to relocate migrants from the UK to Rwanda will deter migrant crossings. This confirms what we already know: that people who take the dangerous route across the channel have no other choice. It also concluded that the UK asylum system is broken, and calls on the Home Secretary to make clear that it was not people crossing the channel who broke it. Harmful policies like the Home Office's Rwanda plan are never the answer.
