The #1 ☝🏼question I get asked about is...
TONING
TONING
TONING
I find this to be one of the broadest and most difficult subjects to teach. Not because it’s hard but because there are so many variables that need to be considered be you can even begin to formulate so one size does not fit all.
-what level did you lift to
-what level did you lift from
-is the lift even
-desired result
-how porous is the hair
-does it need alkaline toner, acidic toner, or permanent
All of these questions play a huge role in your final results.
When you want your result ashy you need to lift light 💡 and tone down ⬇️
When you want your result to be warm you need to overcompensate
Meaning you probably need to add more warmth than you think.
In this video I’m actually correcting a toner that was too ashy. In order to overcompensate I used a level darker in a copper/gold
Copper to balance the ash and gold to keep it bright
Which do you think is harder to correct...
To ashy 💨 or too warm ☀️
Raise your hand 🙋🏻♀️ if this makes sense
