Today would have been our 8th wedding anniversary; you’ve been gone for 4. I never thought that you would spend the rest of your life with me as a memory. The pleasures of life seem incomparable to what could have been and what was. Today I am in my flesh admitting that my heart misses you, although my spirit has been fighting every day to find ways to take small steps forward. My pumping heart pounds a bit softer today, for the flesh is weak, and God knows I’m doing everything I can to strengthen it. The more time passes, the more I’m exposed to what a miracle you are to me, and for that, I am forever grateful that this miracle has helped launch me even further into becoming the man you saw me be. We live in a world now where love is unpopular, where romance is no longer being written or sung. So I guess I understand why sadness is a bit stronger this year, but with that said, I can say thank you for being the song that didn’t need to be composed, the movie that was lived, the tangible poem, the air that was so ever sweet, and the dream that became a reality. To borrow Steve wonders song, I simply love you “As”. Happy anniversary my love.
