Did you know angels watch over our whisky? Each year we lose between 2% and 4% of a cask’s liquid to the Angel’s Share.​ ​ You see, our spirit expands into the wooden casks when left to mature over the summer months. And when it contracts back during the winter months, the spirit brings with it the wood’s colour, sugars and distinctive flavour compounds. ​ ​ This process of evaporation expels air consisting of sulphides, water and alcohol vapour. Which creates that sweet smell that greets you when you walk into our warehouse. ​ ​ Sure, this means we lose some of our precious whisky.
