The Big Bend Top 10, as captured by me, @andrewfisher7 🤠 I’ve been to this area more times than I can count, and I’ve finally made my top ten. There’s so much to do here... this wasn’t easy, but here we go! #10 Explore the Chisos Basin! This is the heart of the park. Tons of trailheads, a restaurant, campground, and the beautiful ‘window view’. #9 Soak in the Hot Springs. These hot springs are right on the Rio Grande - that’s Mexico right across the river! #8 Sunrise on the Lost Mine Trail. One of the best sunrise spots in the park, and you don’t have to go very far for the sunrise view. #7 Explore the nearby ghost town of Terlingua. Quirky Bnbs, tacos, bbq, local art, and tons of fun locals hanging out on the porch of the Starlight Theater! #6 Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. This drives takes you to the beautiful Santa Elena Canyon and is possibly the most beautiful drive in the state. I like to wake up early and beat the sun there to watch it rise over the Chisos. #5 Hike to Emory Peak. The highest point in the park! A full days worth of hiking that leads to panoramic views and stunning vistas. Prepare properly! Photo is just under the peak. #4 Balanced Rock. A quick desert hike with incredible views of the landscape and a stunning rock feature that I love for night photography! #3 Stargazing. The night sky over Big Bend is so dark, that it’s bright. Does that make sense? It’s widely considered the darkest sky and best stargazing area in the United States. You will see the Milky Way cut right through the middle of the sky! #2 Float the Rio Grande. How many people can say they kayaked somewhere in between Texas and Mexico!? Check with one of the many outfitters in Terlingua for guided tours. #1 Backpacking the South Rim! There’s no better view in the park than a sunrise looking out from the South Rim. It might be the best view in the entire state of Texas. It’s an incredibly fun hike and even rivals some of the best hikes from other National Parks. Just please don’t take it for granted. Come prepared! Hopefully y’all enjoyed! Follow, share and save for more of Texas’ Big Bend and message me or @visitbigbend for any help planning your trip!
