We negotiated town in a taxi arriving at The Ritz, made our way past the uniformed doormen, through the grand entrance on Place Vendôme, past the manicured exterior gardens and Hemingway Bar, all the way to the back hotel entrance where we made a sharp right — Voilà! The newly opened Ritz Pâtisserie Bar. Star pastry chef François Perret serves up magic — from marble cake to mille-feuille — in this swanky space. The madeleines are dazzling (and tasty— I had several), and available for takeaway in a suite of smartly-designed pale pink signature boxes.
