“Keeping the spark alive”, is always talked about from the perspective that it’s something that naturally fades over time. But I believe that it’s something we can control. We should take the phrase, keeping the spark alive and actually dissect it. If attraction and the initial butterflies you get when you meet your person is, ‘the spark’, then, keeping in line with the analogy, the rest of the relationship is like a fire. Now, anyone who has ever lit a fire knows that the foundations need to be laid properly and you can’t rush it or just throw lighter fluid on it (we’ve all experienced those relationships...). No, it’s a slow and intricate but beautiful dance you get to learn as you go and with the right partner it feels like breathing for the first time after being held under water. What does this look like, keeping the spark alive through action? It looks like dating your spouse, yes like when you first met. It looks like new experiences shared together good and bad but most importantly actively trying new things. It looks like gift giving, trust building, leaving each other love notes and spa days. It looks like romantic holidays together like this one we’re having @toppingrosehouse . Basically, it’s an ongoing process and if it feels like work most of the time, it’s probably with the wrong person. If you look and film and television, marriage is always talked about like a death sentence. So many negative cliches about women getting older and being less desirable or marriage or kids being “the beginning of the end”, but in my experience it’s been the most exciting, rewarding and passionate time of my life. 🪄 #datenight #couplegoals #relationshipgoals #couplesinlove #aestheticreels #lovelanguage #wellnessjourney #selfdevelopment #hotellife
