I get to meet a lot of cool people through work: colleagues, suppliers, collaborators, and in this instance, guests. I had the pleasure of meeting Sophie @smancin3 on her recent visit to Noma and, although it was a brief encounter, it came to light that we shared similar cultural backgrounds; being of Asian descent and growing up in North America. Serendipitously, I would end up reading her stunner of an article about growing up Korean-American and the triumphant, and ongoing dénouement to the “growing up with the weird school lunchbox” trope that I’m sure almost every child of immigrants can relate to. It’s cause for recognition and celebration when your own personal thoughts have been expressed in words written by someone with the talent capable of capturing and representing something that you previously thought to be indescribable. And so that's why I'm reposting this; because my day was made infinitely better by reading this wonderful, articulate piece of writing and I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment. Thank you, Sophie!
