“My advice to anyone foolish enough to buy a house like this: when it comes to decorating, there is no rush,” says artist and illustrator Matthew Rice. Rather than a wholesale makeover, the restoration of Ham Court, the Oxfordshire house he and his wife, Emma Bridgewater, bought in 2012, unfolded with an unhurried spirit that extended naturally into the decoration - guided as much by circumstance as by intuition.
