Here I am, finally commiting to this page!
I had high hopes when I first created this vet page (in school!) but instead it got pushed aside. It's not that I didn't care. More that I have been struggling to find a way to show what my career entails in a genuine and interesting way, especially given that the vetmed socials are already pretty darn congested. But I think that's the part that I was overthinking! I'm coming to realize, simply sharing my vet life will be interesting enough to those who care. My work is a bit different than most of what you see online or what you imagine your vet to do. The nonprofit world is incredibly fascinating and gratifying but also gut wrenching and frustrating - I want to share some of that to educate and bring awareness to the field and also encourage aspiring vet students or just animals lovers to enter the community.
That being said, it's not the easiest work to try to capture via photo and videos.
1. Despite reminding myself constantly, it still does not cross my mind during an important case to pull out my phone to document.
2. Some, if not most, cases are difficult to see (emotionally distressing and/or graphic). It's the nature of the job.
3. There's a lot of legal constraints with regards to ongoing forensics/animal cruelty cases, rightfully so. I'm happy to share generalizations but that's pretty much it.
So because of this, I'm still trying to figure out what's the best way to share. Bare with me while I experiment a bit. Hopefully I'll become less camera shy with IG stories as well! Feel free to DM me suggestions for the page, honestly I need it - I want to know what you guys want out of this! 🤍🤍🤍
Wearing all @wearfigs in this, obviously 😉
