DAHLING, she’s strutting into the werk day feeling lush, botanical and ready to prepare for this first week of the academic year, and yas she will be blasting @beyonce in her office cuz the green gurls are looking yummy, hunny 🧑🏽‍🏫🪴💚 ⠀ This may not be entirely a surprise, but while this kween is a plant parent 24/7 ... during those 9-5 hours she werks in higher education as a student affairs professional. Throughout my career in education I have focused on working with underrepresented groups of students and implementing intersectional + social justice-oriented initiatives, programs, and policies dedicated to their success. Currently, my werk focuses on student group and leader advisement, facilitating reflective dialogue around identities, and werking to create sustainable + inclusive spaces to uplift, empower, and support LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and alumni within the university community. It’s truly a blessing to be doing this werk ⠀ Prior to the pandemic my office was practically a lil greenhouse. Students (and even colleagues) would visit and would often leave with a clipping or a cutting of one of my green gurls. I had all the supplies to set my students up for a lil water propagation sish, and when the roots had matured under their care they were always welcomed to come back to my office and pot their rooted cutting in soil with me. I found joy in being able to bring a personal passion into my werk, and use it as a bridge to build humanizing relationships with my students 🌿 ⠀ Cheers to building community through plants, dahling ... it be a botanically multifaceted passion, journey, and adventure 💃🏽🌱🌿🪴💚 ⠀ 🎥 @heyhorti x @savoreachbite
