Adaptogens. I love that they are finally getting a spotlight in health and research! Adaptogens are specific plant compounds that may reduce the negative effects of stress on the body, and improve stress resilience. One key factor to overall stress resilience is getting quality sleep; and this, we know, in our global lifestyle, can be fleeting. Rhodiola and Ashwagandha are both two adaptogens I use to assist with sleep. I find Rhodiola helps manage my racing thoughts with long haul travel, but it might be stimulatory to others. It's important to know how you will respond, so start with one at a time and see how your body responds. It does take ~3weeks for most adaptogens to have a full effect; start with the lowest effective dose for a couple of weeks. Once you have one adaptogen that is in a steady state for a few weeks, you can start to add in others.
