In my Cyanotype work, I create imagined environments using hand-cut negatives of my photographs and nature tokens that I collect in the wilderness. Once I have built my composition on light-sensitized paper, I expose it to the sun. Next, I apply delicate and surreal watercolor to enhance its formal qualities or to enrich the imagery. This work is a tribute to the experiences of awe, euphoria, and the act of remembering. By creating complex and mysterious images that I liken to visual poems, I implore the viewer to ask questions and to enter a realm of heightened sensory awareness. Attention and consciousness are linked, so therefore the more we focus on nature, the more deeply invested we will be in its protection and care.
