Winona Ryder has lived through the highs and lows of Hollywood stardom, and she’s determined to use her experiences to help others. On the set of @strangerthingstv, she’s known for mentoring her younger costars. “She’s talked to the kids about what celebrity is like and how the press can be and the anxiety and confusion that comes along with celebrity,” says Ross Duffer, a producer and writer on the show. “I’m always telling them, ‘The work is the reward!’” says Ryder. “Because when I was that age, it was so hard to enjoy the fruits of my labor.” In our digital cover story, Ryder talks about ‘Stranger Things,’ coming of age onscreen, and her own trip through Hollywood’s version of the Upside Down.
