Very proud to have had the chance to speak about my roots on the @dailytelegraph last week... I was born and raised in Campbelltown housing commission, daughter of political refugees... proudly living out a dream I mustered up as a young girl. The dream was never to feature in films or to do runway shows (these experiences have been an added bonus!), the dream was always to create art which would inspire wonder and awe... a concept I had heard Oprah speak about years prior. I studied Visual arts straight out of school where I explored every artistic medium, always feeling most drawn to textiles and sculpture. Then throughout my 4 year degree at @utsfashion I continued to “seek” and found macramé just in time to incorporate the technique into my graduation collection. As I knotted my first creations the reaction from my fellow classmates and teachers was often “Wow”. I knew I’d found my technique, that which I would use to inspire as much wonder and awe in as many hearts and minds. To have the ability to do that through our interpretation of an ancient textile craft is the greatest honour and to be able to share it with each of you on this platform and on @thorofficial is Little Denisse’ dream come true.
