opening at Sadie Coles HQ’s Davies Street gallery on Wednesday 09 November, from 6-8pm.

Lucia Laguna’s first solo exhibition in the UK – Life is only possible reinvented – brings together a group of new paintings in the artist’s ongoing Paisagem (Landscape) series. Each of the canvases explores the richly layered entanglement of the natural and urban environments surrounding her studio in Rio de Janeiro’s sprawling North Zone, as well as incorporating elements drawn from the local area surrounding the Davies Street gallery in London, which coalesce to form rapturous, multichromatic scenographies.

A primeira exposição individual de Lucia Laguna no Reino Unido – Life is only possible reinvented – reúne um conjunto de novas obras da série Paisagem. Cada uma das pinturas explora o rico emaranhado de ambientes naturais e urbanos que cercam o estúdio da artista na Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro. Laguna também incorpora elementos extraídos da vizinhança da Sadie Coles HQ, Davies Street, em Londres, que se unem para formar cenografias multicromáticas.
