I was born in the early eighties, grew up far away from the “city.” I started playing basketball at two years old. It became my life, but horses and my pony were also my life, but only for a short time. I took my pony out for a wild bareback ride at 6am one morning at four years old before everyone woke up. When I came back, I was in big trouble! I couldn’t understand at that time why I would get in so much trouble for doing something so fun! I guess it was dangerous. I mean, me and pony were flying down the dirt road. I LOVED to ride pony and horses, until I saw my brother irritate one of our horses and the horse kicked him. Ever since, I have been very afraid of horses. It kind of broke my heart and my soul, the fear that is, because I had a deep love and admiration for horses and animals. that I couldn’t express because of instead of learning a valuable lesson in that moment, I learned to protect myself, but not in the best way. Over the last decade or so, I’ve been working on some of my deepest fears. I have yet to jump on a horse and be free with one.
