yesterday, I craved a cheesey crumpet.. today a bowl of salmon and vegetables... yesterday I didn't have less 'willpower' my body was simply responding - in a very efficient human way - to some emotional turmoil I was going through 🤯 when stress is placed on the body, our body seeks to consume and conserve energy (bc survival!) so, craving chocolate, cheese and a maccie d's - as well as feeling like getting off the sofa to exercise might kill you - is a NATURAL response, not a failure of self control! which is why, BEFORE (/instead of) panicking about macro nutrients and calorie balance, we need to be working through our mental stuff; finding coping mechanisms and figuring out where we can reduce unnecessary daily stressors!! AND (a big 'and') this is also why we need to be talking about the social determinants of health instead of placing sole responsibility on the individual (under-privileged groups face many more challenges than those more privileged .... challenges = STRESS!) thx for coming to my TED talk, take care of yourself booooos 😘😘😘😘😘
