I spent the first half of the 4th of July finishing this sketchbook drawing I call ‘Self Portrait of America’. It’s a contemplation on this country I am undoubtedly a product of, blended together in fragments like a dream and how people seem to feel about it at the moment. Despite it all, I am thankful to be from this melting pot of a country that continues to melt and has melted enough to form my existence. Now to venture out and see how everyone else is celebrating what this day is supposedly about: our independence from Britain! Happy 4th! 🕊
