When @deon.woo first started work, Layla was very cold towards him. Dont want Papa this, Dont want Papa tha, refused to hug or kiss him before he went to work, and doesnt show him affection when he's home. It was hard for Deon to handle being rejected like that of cos! So one morning while cuddling, i got curious, i asked her why didn't she want to kiss papa in the morning? She said, "Layla dont want papa. Papa go work. Layla don't want to kiss papa." repeatedly. Then i ask "How do u feel when you do that?" She said she feels sad. Suddenly it all clicked! To her, after she kisses papa, papa will go to work and disappear for the whole day! So she thinks that by not kissing him, he wouldn't leave! When i solved that mystery, you cannot imagine the joy my husband had! In my motherhood journey with Layla, one thing i've learnt is to always be curious. I am constantly asking questions! Toddlers so opinionated and have so many thoughts and ideas, it is honestly quite remarkable! She may not have the words for it yet, may not even have the emotional capacity to handle the feeling at that moment, but I'll not stop trying. I will keep asking questions so i can help her unpack her thoughts and understand her better. Sometimes i really feel like they are the teachers instead, we adults truly underestimate these little humans! If you're like me who's also interested in positive-parenting, @Positivepsychsg is conducting a Masterclass program in Positive-parenting course in Nov. I am super excited and have been looking forward to it for months! Some of the topics include Parenting in the modern world, Raising happy humans, Emotions under scrutiny, Strengths spotting, Building a child’s confidence. It will be taught by none other than Prof Ilona Boniwell herself! When Stephen told me that the course is finally happening, i immediately sent the link to many of my mommy friends whom i knew would be interested! @Steplew (founder of TSPP) is also very kind to offer 10% rebate for my followers if you quote 'SheilaSim'. See you there! Let's walk out of the course feeling stronger and better for ourselves and our family! #ssmotherhoodjourney #sspositivepsychology
