The past few years I have learned some things about myself. One being that creating is so intrinsically connected to my soul. In 2020-2021, grief took over and making photographs was not something that was on my mind at all. And definitely not something I was in a rush to get back to. I felt like I was waiting for a spark that just really wasn’t there. A lot of time was spent horizontal on the couch, listening to my partner on zoom meetings, songs playing in the background of releases he was working on, passionate conversations about music and art amongst others filling our home - all while I stayed in limbo. Over the course of 2021, one name kept popping up, songs were on repeat and the more I heard, the more I was intrigued .... a little spark that was slowly returning until one day after many many months I said to Conor “Tell Ella I wanna work on this!!” Collaborating on this project as my first re-entry into the world after a few years of stillness was such a joy and I couldn’t have asked for a better project or person to do that with. I say all this really to highlight how special I think Sister Ray and their music is. Enough to reignite a snuffed flame. Please go listen. Ella, congratulations on this stunning release. You are a true talent. Thank you for helping to bring me back to life. You are absolutely one of a kind. ❤️
