Is this what they call a reel in the biz? A collection of work that I’m really proud of. I’ve filmed and edited everything you see here including scoring the soundtrack minus the @nlp_band track. Thank you to all the people who let me take the reigns behind the camera and let me film them infront of the camera. Music, photography and film is something that I’ve been drawn to since I was young, but was too shy and far too intimidated to pick up a camera. I can plainly say that its something that has gotten be out of my shell and has allowed me to express myself in ways that I could never imagine. Yes, I am mostly self taught in the world of film and music and for a very long time I was embarrassed to say, especially when I work in a world surrounded by people with Arts degrees from prestigious schools. But for me, school was watching and listening to the ones that I admire the most. I remember watching Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic and Alejandro Gonzales’s 21 Grams in my teens for the first time and realizing that even down to the colour treatment of the film and the hand held nature of the camera work it could make you feel something. Watching the gothic horror visuals of Floria Sigismundi along with David Lynch and Jim Jarmusch opened my mind to the fact that filmmaking could have a darker subtext, something that has influenced much of my work and aesthetics. Gus Van Sant’s Elephant a visual masterpiece with such little dialogue. Harmony Korine’s lofi approach with some killer soundtracks and of course Ron Fricke the master of some of the most gorgeous cinematography in the world of natural landscapes and documentaries. And then when I hit university I discovered French New Wave and my brain burst! I will keep making films for myself and with others no matter how old and jaded I become. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to share more no matter how big or small.
