So excited to finally announce this... my first solo show and the launch of my first book, The Last Raceway, beautifully designed and published by @guesteditions. The show will be at @jupitergallerynewlyn running from Monday 5th - Saturday 10th September 2022. There will be an opening event on the evening of Tuesday 6th September from 6pm-9pm. Everyone is welcome to come! I'd love to see you, and for you to experience the work. It's been a joy to make, and I hope it will contribute towards saving a place so worthy of support. The banger racing track at @uniteddownsraceway has been providing entertainment, opportunity and community for Cornish locals and visitors for over 50 years. It is now under threat of demolition and re-development, as Cornwall Council have failed to renew the longstanding lease in favour of another party. Part celebration of the track and part protest against its closure, The Last Raceway is a body of work made over the course of 18 months documenting the people, the passion and the sport, telling the story of a community at risk of fading away. I'm very grateful to FEAST Cornwall, without whom this exhibition wouldn't have been possible. (Ironically, that also means it's been partially paid for by @cornwallcouncil...)
