NOURISHMENT emerging on the other side of a long elimination protocol has truly put nourishment into perspective for me. some things I learned along the way: — eliminating foods can be powerful, but it shouldn’t become your forever way of eating — are you actually digesting and assimilating your food? do you have enough stomach acid? (investigate this before starting any diets/protocols) — what foods make others thrive, won’t necessarily work for you — it takes courage to drown out the orthorexic tendencies of the health and wellness world and eat what feels true to you — no amount of supplements, adaptogens, herbs or powders can replace whole foods — if you don’t know where to begin, simply eat foods your great grandmother would recognize (cut out all the hydrogenated oils and processed foods) — a healing body needs nourishment from animals (saturated fat, collagen, amino acids) - processed and concentrated gluten is hidden in EVERYTHING and is at the root cause of most digestive inflammation — ancestral foods that are demonized are simply not being prepared and cooked in the correct way e.g. soaking rice, soaking beans — adding foods back in after an elimination phase is a deeply intuitive process that requires self trust and self love — food is only one of the many foundational aspects of healing (light, sleep, air, movement, hydration, nervous system repair, love) — eating “healthy” foods in a state of fear is counterproductive, trust in the nourishment you are receiving and feel gratitude for showing up for yourself in the best way you can an array of vegetables, pastured meat and eggs, stable and ancestral cooking fats, soaked rice and legumes, seasonal fruit, herbs, spring water, pure spices and mineral salt. with love, emily
