On August 31, 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at the National Conference of New Politics. He delivered a stern rebuke of racism, poverty and war, and showed how throughout history and across the world, these “evils” caused societies to decay from within. Homelessness is the worst manifestation of the widening inequality that perpetuates poverty. It’s a Civil Rights issue. And as we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. we also remember our neighbor, our bothers and sisters.
