We are thrilled to share that Candice Hopkins, renowned curator, writer, and Executive Director of Forge Project, has joined the CCS Bard faculty as Fellow in Indigenous Art History and Curatorial Studies.
At CCS Bard, Hopkins (Carcross/Tagish First Nation) will teach on themes related to Native and Indigenous art history and curatorial studies with Forge Project serving as an “expanded classroom.” On a broader level, she will strengthen the organization’s emphasis on Native and Indigenous curatorial histories and art through archival acquisitions, curatorial, and educational projects. In summer 2023, Hopkins will curate a major show at the Hessel Museum (details to be announced).
This initiative is made possible through a larger and transformative gift from from the Gochman Family Foundation to Bard College that will accelerate Bard’s existing work in Native American and Indigenous Studies and develop broader College-wide programming initiatives such as public programming, visiting scholars, archive and library acquisitions, and publishing. Additionally, the gift supports efforts to increase enrollment of students from historically-underrepresented populations and geographic regions, such as Native American and Indigenous communities, through dedicated undergraduate and graduate scholarship funds.
