We’re stealing @lagaragista’s last post today in celebration of this harvest holiday with Orleans Bitter and her The Flesh and the Bone sparking, with her permission of course. We agree, the colder weather and longer nights call for cozy libations. Cheers!
Here’s what she says:
“Autumn and winter holidays always make me crave a cocktail. The turn to darkness, the long evening, and colder weather seems to be when when I begin reaching for something on our overloaded bar, a broad, rustic table that was once my childhood desk. Somehow fitting.
On Last Saturday, we had a delicious lunch at one of our locals @kuyasatonemain in Randolph. I admired her cocktail list, and decided to recreate one of her concoctions called “Yes, Please” using the ingredients we had at hand that night. I’ll batch it this Wednesday evening to celebrate family and friends arriving around the table. This version is called “Yes, And...”
On part Rum (Dunc’s Maple Rum from here in Vermont)
One part Orleans Bitter
Juice of one lime
A whisper of Herbsaint
Our The Flesh and the Bone Sparkling Wine + Cider co-ferment
Lemon or lime wedge
*Mix the rum, Bitter, lime juice, and Herbsaint in a shaker and shake with plenty of ice {you can stir if you don’t have a shaker}. Pour to the half-way mark in a martini glass, and top with the sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon or lime.”
