TEEN MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE AWARENESS ⚠️trigger warning⚠️ did you know: suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens in the U.S (the first being car accidents), suicide kills more teenagers and young adults than does cancer, heart disease, aids, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease COMBINED, 16% of high school students report creating a plan *suicidal thoughts/passive suicidal thoughts*, every day 5,400 young people in grades 7-12 attempt taking their own life, each year 157,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 24 are treated emergency rooms for self inflicted injuries. Statistics are just big picture, imagine how common mental health struggles are to your neighbors, peers, and close friends. I have always been a big mental health advocate! I am a @robbieshopeambassador and I found them during covid when I found myself going through my own mental health battle, finding @robbieshope1 was my first step in the direction of wanting to make an impact in the world of mental health. Why do I like Robbie’s Hope? Robbie’s Hope is a movement of uprising teens to help other teens! Robbie’s hope has made it a mission to stop the suicide epidemic that’s taking the lives of our loved ones. Additionally, Robbie’s Hope Ambassadors and many others are working to cut the suicide rates in HALF by the year 2028!! In the media today (especially for us young people on platforms such as tiktok and instagram) it seems as though our mental state is being talked about more which is a step in the right direction!
