[FIRELILY] It was a natural collaboration between @paolocarzana and I for his SS23 collection “Imagine We Could Be The Ones To Change It All” when I heard of his concept on rebirth and hope, paired with his inspiration from Pasolini’s La Ricotta on greed and hypocrisy. Working with objects of power, I was inspired to alter the crucifix as a symbol of resurrection; but instead of it being linked to trauma, guilt and corruption, it would now become our own symbol of hope and rebirth. Taking inspiration from fire-lilies that bloom from ashes, I used pre-existing crucifixes and sawed the top to create the six petals of the lily, trauma transformed into quiet resilience. 1.
